Sister Joan Chittister famously said, "We are each called to go through life reclaiming the planet an inch at a time until the Garden of Eden grows green again." Reflecting on that journey -- a blog at a time -- is the focus of this site.

On a personal note ...
This my own personal thermometer on my own personal patio showing that at nearly 5:00 p.m. it is ...
I am glad I am not in the San Gabriel valley tonight...fortunately for me right now I am closer to the coast and the amelioration of Coastal Eddy. (tho' I spend plenty of time in hotter places, so I am fully sympathetic).
but all of SoCal is suffering from a harsh dry heat. Those of you elsewhere, please keep fingers crossed that no one drops a match!
Now that's the Southern California I remember from my youth. I remember a summer in the early 1960's that it was over 100 for 16 straight days. We lived in La Crescenta and the smog was thick and we ate, slept and lived in our living room (the only space with an air conditioner). Hopefully the air quality is better now than then, but just remember what we say here in Michigan. It's not the heat, it's the humidity. That's a big lie, but maybe it will make you feel a little cooler.

That is way too hot! I'm sorry.
