After all the rationales have been examined, Judge Walker concluded, "What is left is evidence that Proposition 8 enacts a moral view that there is something 'wrong' with same-sex couples. " This phrase gets right to the crux of the theological basis of the Christian view of whether lesbians, gay men, bi-sexuals and transgendered people should be able to be legally married, and indeed have all the legal rights accorded to heterosexuals in our society ...You should totally go to the site and read the whole piece ... but in the meantime, let's give thanks that this court decision and the debates surrounding it are giving theologians like Susan Thistlethwaite the opportunity to reach a national audience with the message of God's inclusive love.
There is no "wrongness" in being gay in the Christian perspective, not because DNA evidence tells us that being gay is very likely rooted in one's genetic code, but because gay men, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered people are created in the image of God. In the Christian theological perspective, therefore, they are fully and completely human beings in their relationship with other human beings and the God who created them.
Brava!

Friends of Jake has the cartoon I linked to and credit it to the Village Voice. I saw it earlier today but couldn't find it again, so looked it up on Google.
