The 112th Meeting ...

... of the Diocese of Los Angeles is history. We came, we saw & we voted; we resolved & budgeted: we worshipped & shopped; we banqueted & schmoozed ... and then we headed home, trying to catch the end of the UCLA/USC game on the car radio.

A few snapshots:
.

The Bishop's Commission on Gay & Lesbian Ministry booth in the Exhibit Hall welcomed visitors and celebrated its partnership with Integrity.

Booth volunteer Michael Bell & BCGLM co-chair Mark Hallahan in a "not so candid" shot!

+Jon offering a meditation at Morning Prayer this morning.

Ed Bacon perusing convention materials. (Budget, maybe?)
All Saints delegate Jim White & Integrity Chaplain Randy Kimmler wearing MDG convention regalia and enjoying a Diocesan Convention moment.

And here's Jim again, this time standing for the Commissioning of the Newly Elected, having just been elected as a Lay Deputy to General Convention 2009.
Go, JIM!
.
Here's the deputation:
.
CLERGY: Altagracia Perez, Gary Commins, Diane Bruce & Mark Kowalewski
LAY: Jenny Ladefoged, Daniel Valdez, Joanne O'Donnell & Jim White
.
Go, team L.A.!!!
.
We also "adopted" a new diocesan institution: The Holy Family Adoption Center.
.
We had some great "teachable moments" with the new provost of our Cathedral Center, Michael Battle.
.
We celebrated the appointment of St. John's Downtown as our new "pro-cathedral." (It's a "pro-cathedral" because St. John's will continue to be a parish church while serving as our diocesan liturgical center -- and it's a great liturgical space!)
.
And my own All Saints colleague, Zelda Kennedy, preached a VERY fine sermon at the closing Eucharist: Brava, Zelda!!
.
And there you have it. Next year we're looking forward to welcoming our Presiding Bishop as our teacher, preacher and speaker at our lucky-number Annual Meeting of the Diocese of Los Angeles #113!! Until then, here ends the report on diocesan convention from Lovely Los Angeles.
.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled program: "As the Anglican World Turns."
.
P.S. -- USC won! Go, Trojans!

It's great to see SC ending up the year so strong--and even cooler to see a Pac 10-Big 10 Rose Bowl. I'm a Big 10 guy, but I'm pretty sure SC is going to clobber Illinois.
