Hillary on Obama VP Pick

also in the Times this morning ... (see Jim, I still read "the paper":)

"In naming my colleague and friend Joe Biden to be the vice presidential nominee, Barack Obama has continued in the best traditions for the vice presidency by selecting an exceptionally strong, experienced leader and devoted public servant. Senator Biden will be a purposeful and dynamic vice president who will help Senator Obama both win the presidency and govern this great country.”

  1. Dear Rev. Russell:

If that comment for "Jim" was for me. I appreciate that many of our generation (which is nicer than saying old) still want the dead tree version of our news, assuming you read the dead tree and not the online version.
The Times was once my very favorite newspaper and I have in my collection many major front page headlines (you always knew when a story was big because the headline went all across the front page)during the 50s and 60s.
I have all the major space achievements, several days of the JFK saga, etc.
Unfortunately, I believe you will soon see the Times slowly fading into irrelevancy with the departure of so many of its key investigative reporters with the new ownership.
If the comment was not for me, then all this was wasted. Have a great Sunday.

  2. Nope ... it's for my BFF Jim who gives me a hard time about prefing the New York Times over the hometown paper.

  3. Dear Rev. Russell:

I'm on your side. The NYT is staid and not what it once was. Of course, that could be said about a lot of papers.
I guess the nostalgia of learning to read newspapers on the LA Times will always make that my favorite.
