A Step Closer to Health Care Reform

[NYTimes] Handing President Obama a hard-fought victory, the House voted to approve a $1.1 trillion, 10-year plan that Democrats said could be their defining social policy achievement.

And me? I'm taking the good advice of a good doctor friend: "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." This is huge step forward toward where we need to be as a nation ... even as it falls short of all it could be.

  2. Yes -- my Planned Parenthood e-mail buds are horrified but we must take baby steps. On the other hand, does any one doubt that in this world women and the GLBT community are expendable?

  3. Susan I hope you are right. My understanding is that the bill has mandates to buy insurance (which makes the insurance millionaires very happy), with some subsidies for a few poor people, no cost controls or premium limits, and a few limits on exclusions. I am praying without ceasing that our representatives do the right thing to help all of God's children who suffer in sickness.
