LET FREEDOM RING! Marking the 50th Anniversary of MLK's "I Have A Dream" Speech

At 12 noon on August 28, 2013 All Saints Church in Pasadena joined with those across the nation ringing bells to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic "I Have A Dream" speech.

Thanks to all who stepped up on a moment's notice to ring out freedom ...

Zelda Kennedy ... closing the bell ringing with prayer ... and let the people say: AMEN!

I was in Washington D.C. on August 28th. I had business, but my wife and I are old enough to remember the original march. So she sat on the grass in the rain on the National Mall and listened to the speeches. She felt like she was part of history.

After 50 years of "Celebrating Diversity" you're still over 95% White and Middle Class.
Some ringing!

Very observant.

Yep ... I'd say the fact that with 15 minutes notice on a Wednesday in the middle of the day that fact that we were "only" able to rally a handful of white, middle class, (you forgot middle aged!) folks to ring the bells is indicative of how much inequity here still is in this country -- that those are the folks with enough privilege to show up in observance of this important anniversary.

A wise mentor of mine once called for us to "set audacious goals and celebrate incremental victories."

We haven't reached the audacious goal ... yet. But we had fun celebrating the incremental victory that afternoon! "Some ringing" indeed!
