Wow, you appear to have missed the point altogether.
ReplyDeleteDesmond Tutu is saying he does not believe in a homophobic God who sends people to hell for being gay. And so I'm saying if he won't settle for a homophobic hell, we shouldn't settle for a homophobic church.
Big. Difference.
What will become of these homophobic Christians that have died or will die?

ReplyDeleteAccording to the Merriam Webster dictionary, ho·mo·pho·bi·a is:
"an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality and homosexual people"
What Desmond Tutu is saying is he doesn't believe there is homophobia in heaven. He believes God loves, welcomes and embraces homosexual people with as much delight as heterosexual people.
And my point is, if heaven isn't homophobic then our churches shouldn't be either.
And as far as what happens to homophobic Christians when they die my best guess is the same thing tha happens to all of us. They are received into the loving embrace of the God who created them.
