"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives,
and the dream shall never die."
Sister Joan Chittister famously said, "We are each called to go through life reclaiming the planet an inch at a time until the Garden of Eden grows green again." Reflecting on that journey -- a blog at a time -- is the focus of this site.

Well, yours truly managed to cry in front of a class she was supposed to be teaching today. I imagine the poor student just wanted to find out "Why was he called the Lion of the Senate?" and move on to more Latin verse scansion. What he (and the rest of the class got) was the weepy American lady. It has been a sad day.
ReplyDeleteWhen he did not attend his sister Eunice's funeral I knew the end was near. He was above all a family man and would not have missed that funeral if there were any way he could have gone. Teddy was a complex and flawed man, but above all a great man with a great heart and a good friend to LGBT people everywhere. His roar will be missed by many.

ReplyDeleteFrom those of to whom he gave so much much is owed... and we owe him to live according to the standard which he lived.
Thanks, Teddy. We will miss you and keep you memory alive by striving to live in the way you showed us can be done with great joy.
He learned to be angry without hating. What a lesson for the rest of us -- or me anyway. Both to be angry and not to hate.
