(CNN) -- Tammy Faye Messner, the former televangelist and Christian singer who battled drug addiction and later inoperable cancer, died Friday morning, according to CNN's Larry King on Saturday night. He said the family had asked him to make the delayed announcement.
She was 65. "She died peacefully," King said.

Asked if she had a message for her fans, she replied: "I'd like to say that I genuinely love you, and I genuinely care, and I genuinely want to see you in heaven someday. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy."
That's a blessing we can all be grateful to receive. May you rest in peace, Tammy.
I don't believe too many people have endured more undeserved abuse, mockery or satire than Tammy Faye.
Although I have always enjoyed Saturday Night Live I was very uncomfortable with what they used to do to this woman.
Many people loathed her and I could never figure out why. Maybe because she wore too much makeup?
Was always positive on her show?
I could never figure it out.
Rest in Peace, Tammy Faye.

In the mid 80's, when my brother was diagnosed with AIDs and became sick, Tammy Faye and the people at Heritage USA showed him love that was not commonly offered by most "Christians" He moved from NYC to Charlotte and died there.
May she rest in peace and be rewarded for the love she showed to Jay and others like him.

Amen. May the angel choirs sing for her, the hosts of heaven protect her, and the gates of paradise open to her.
She was so horribly betrayed by the men in her life, except the One with whom she now rejoices. I think her ability to remain upbeat and gracious was amazing.

I was one who mocked her, but I came to see that she didn't deserve it.
