Church Times Cartoon

A picture may be worth a thousand words ...

... but sometimes a cartoon is worth more than that!
.
(Hard to get moving on that "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" stuff when the vehicle designed to make that happen is UP ON BLOCKS IN THE DRIVEWAY!!!)

The question, of course, who is it "safer" for ... certainly not LGBT people living on the margins or for the mission and ministry of the Gospel held hostage, one more time, to the institutional church.

Thanks, Susan. Also not safer for women in general.

Ha ha ha! That cartoon cracks me up! Unfortunately, this seems to be where our whole Communion will remain until sometime between July 8 & 17, 2009...

As I said when the ridiculous Windsor Fantasy was published, the British response seeks status quo ante. Our mad friend put it well the other day in his review of his trip to hear +Gene preach, "That bus has left the station."

Somehow we seem to have an archbishop of Canterbury who despite his own recognition of his brilliance can not read the writing on the walls. Status quo ante is not an option, lesbian and gay people are not going back in the closet and it is time to get on with the business of the church.

Jim-
++Rowan, for all of his brilliance, seems to be following the lead of the Bishop of Rome at the present time. The last months have seen a similar response in the RCC, something like: although we all know you're there, we'd prefer that you don't draw too much attention to yourselves.
