I wish people would stop saying this because it seems quite unfair to me. 'Up front' would be better. Would we want to imply that, say, Otis Charles, was being 'dishonest' by not revealing everything about himself?

What's more, I dislike the tacit assumption that somehow more information is better. There is dignity in choosing to be private about some things, as some things do not deserve public airing. Let us honor the choice to be private.

I'm blessed to see the inspiriaton that God has given the Homosexual Community in their sincere search for God. God is merciful and he is kind -- He loves you very much.

I'm reflecting on my decade spent at St. Augustine by the Sea and St. Albans in W.LA. (1979-89). It was a time of confusion and loss. Rev. Gillian and Rev. Boyd were brave and steadfast in the midst of uncertainty. The participants in the pews were in constant flux. Sometimes dwindling to nil.

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorous riches he may stengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of al the fullness of God. Sidney,
I strongly believe the time has come for people especially bishops to be honest. Obtaining preferment by hiding your true self is not honest. From what I read many of the closeted gay bishops are very unfriendly to GLBT acceptance. I came out as a teacher in a Catholic school nearly 30 years ago. It was difficult but there were also blessings, not least to some of my gay students.
