And WE'RE the ones who are the "Revisionists"????

Say WHAT

Check out this example of Rick Warren trying to rewrite his own history as he speaks ... (hard to do, what with YouTube and all:)

From Pam's House Blend: (and with thanks to the seven people who sent me this link! :)

Saddleback Church mega-church pastor and the man who delivered the invocation at the President's inaugural, Rick Warren, went on Larry King last night and insisted, despite all the video footage out there of him on his anti-gay efforts, that he isn't against gays or same sex marriage. (!). Right. What was that about bearing false witness? From the transcript:

KING: How did you handle all the controversy that resulted about the president selecting you?

PASTOR RICK WARREN, DELIVERED PRAYER AT OBAMA'S INAUGURATION: Yes, you know, Larry, there was a story within a story that never got told. In the first place, I am not an anti-gay or anti-gay marriage activist. I never have been, never will be.

During the whole Proposition 8 thing, I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never -- never once even gave an endorsement in the two years Prop 8 was going.

Hmmm ...

I know it's Holy Week and everybody is busy and all, but what about a quick email to Larry King to ask him when he's going to call Warren on what appears (one doesn't like to jump to conclusions, but ...) to be a BALD FACE LIE.

Here ... from the CNN website ... is:

Ask a question about something on The Larry King Live Show.

(Here's mine:)

Saw a transcript this morning of your interview with Rick Warren where he categorically denies having worked to pass Proposition 8 -- when there is footage ALL OVER YouTube with him doing PRECISELY THAT.
As a priest and pastor I am appalled that those who lobbied, fundraised, preached and politicked to take rights away from gay and lesbian families in the name of "Christian Family Values" have the gall to then lie about their actions on national television.

You don't have to BE a priest and pastor to know that a traditional value is telling the truth. Mr. Warren did NOT tell the truth on your show and I hope you will call him on it!

When he appeared on Larry King's show this week, Rick Warren specifically denied having advocated on behalf of Proposition 8, and claimed that he is not a gay marriage foe. And yet, there are a number of sources to easily locate this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o4QqGbQmU0) of Rick Warren, specfically directing people to consider voting yes on Prop 8.

Rick Warren is a bald-faced liar. When is he going to be called out on his lies? When is Larry King going to stop giving publicity and airtime to people like Warren, and giving them a platform from which to deny their hatemongering and lies?

I like Larry King, but in this case, he should be ashamed of assisting this shameless liar in disseminating his lies.

Hmmmm, indeed. Two emails sent. I suggested that Larry interview a progressive Christian pastor, in the interests of equal time. One pastor lying, one pastor - not. I can think of a few people who would be great.

I particularly like the notion that we shouldn't let "2%" of the population force their views on the rest of us. Hmmm, again.

I think the best response to the "2%" argument is, "if you don't like homosexual marriage, don't marry a homosexual."

I think part of my brain just died in order to get away from the twists in logic.

I'm glad I don't have to be near the Purpose Driven tax Shelter anytime soon. Eventually you tell enough whoppers like that and something will lash back.

The proper way for Pastor Warren to have handled this isssue was to simply state that he had changed his mind and was no longer against the concepts contained in Propostion 8. Instead he chose to swing with the political winds that best suit him. Now that a liberal is in power he is more liberal. Honesty seems to be unimportant to Pastor Warren.

Give the man some credit; he's not going to pile another lie on top of the ones he's already told!

So Rick Warren justified his prejudice because it affects only 2% of the population? He obviously forgot what Jesus said about "the least of these."

'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master - that's all.'
