Overheard

V - "I hear that the ++ABofC will speak on Human Rights at the Tutu center in NYC Jan 26th."

R - "I would as soon listen to Tiger Woods speaking on Family Values."

"There are none so blind as those who will not see" ... that their moral authority is being squandered in a futile effort to preserve illusory "bonds of affection" that have become institutional shackles of homophobia.

Rowan on human rights? That should be a short speech.

At least give him credit where credit is due - albeit at an inflated interest rate! He DID finally make a statement about Uganda. Thanks be to God.

Wonder if he will take any questions? so Rowan what about Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Sharia Law?

Sandy ... Sorry. I'm not feeling that generous. A comment in the middle of an interview with a reporter is not "A Statement" ... certainly not compared to his willingess to step out with A STATEMENT on the election here in Los Angeles. I expect more from him.

Susan, I agree it should have been more. Maybe someday I'll get over feeling like the dog under the table: grateful for any little crumb.

Credit! Good grief! Rick Warren and Chuck Grassley have made stronger statements. I don't give Rowan credit for anything.

Dr. Williams did not make a statement he answered a question in the middle of a long interview on other topics. Be assured the Ugandans took it as a wink and nod comment.

Of course he is in bad company -- Katherine the reluctant only managed a statement as a effort to avoid becoming completely irrelevant after both the pres of deputies and the executive council had made it clear where they stood.

Leadership by bad public relations work is not a book they need to read.
