Love this video message
Thanks to Randy for pointing me to this great 2 minute video reminder of why I'm glad to be an Episcopalian:
When my father and mother got engaged in 1946, they went "church shopping." He was a Roman Catholic, she was a Presbyterian, and neither was completely comfortable in the other's church. When they eventually visited an Episcopal church, they knew immediately that they were home.
I think it funny yet very fitting, that the Episcopal Church wants to present it self as a 'Magical Journey', and a 'Magical Picture'... [kinda wondering who are you trying to appeal to -- Marijuana users?]
You've rejected the real Jesus, he was in no way , shape or form, 'Magical'. He was Real, and he came to fulfill the LAW. He was the PERFECT JEW, and he followed The LAW, he crossed every 't', and dotted every 'i'. [Yes, the Jews of the time accused him of breaking the LAW, but they were sorely wrong.]
The Resurrection was Supernatural, but it wasn't 'Magic' like you allude to.
And when He comes back, it will be to JUDGE...[ a sobering thought] the sheep from the goats -- no magic there either. Will you follow Him?
I'll give you the "magic" ... I'd have used "mystery."
But then, I'd have used "self offering" instead of "sacrifice" because I don't buy sacrificial atonement as an efficacious component of a viable Christology.
Oh LGM you've so willfully misconstrued the substance of the video and for that matter the Episcopal church that I wonder what substance has altered your perception that you have no imagination.
C.S. Lewis (who clearly understood the meaning of this magic)describes a fundamentalist mindset that operates like that of a dog wherein you point at something and he looks at your finger.
While no one would disagree about the essential Jewishness Of Jesus' teaching, the God of Love figures abundantly in the Hosea tradition of the Old Testament and Jesus builds upon that tradition nor that the life of Jesus was the embodiment of the prophetic tradition of Judaism ,of Amos wherein the worship of Gd is justice and Micah dismissing religiosity and the proper crossing the "t's" and dotting the "i's" of religious practice to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your Gd. It is abundantly clear the Reverend Russell's Reflections on the Journey is and describes the journey towards this justice and it is magical (though an inch at at a time may describe its arduousness). There is something magical in worship that is about justice, that the kingdom of Gd is here right now within you and that you may have life and have it abundantly and there is nothing more real than that.
But as to your "REAL" Jesus please publish the photographs.
