The same Senator Murkowski who was quoted on Wednesday saying, "It makes no sense to make this attack on women. If you don't feel this is an attack, you need to go home and talk to your wife and your daughters."
Oops!
But back to Wisconsin, where Governor Scott Walker, reportedly with little notice or discussion, repealed the state’s Equal Pay law. From the report on care2:
"Republican state senator Glenn Grothman, was an enthusiastic fan of repealing the law. According to Grothman, not only is there no actual pay gap between the sexes, if there was one it wouldn’t matter anyway. After all, men need money more than women do, since they have families to support."Seriously!! And I checked ... sadly this was NOT posted on April 1st nor does it come from The Onion.
A Facebook friend commented "there are no words" ... and I replied "I can think of the a whole bunch of them ... but the only ones I'm willing to put online are these four:"

Okay, um, who do they think these men have these families with?
This may go a long way to explaining the completely backwards view of sex that right-wingers have. Apparently, they were told the cabbage-leaf thing and believed it.
I'm sorry, but that reason is so stupid that these people should be summarily locked up in the nearest asylum.
In Arizona, they have passed a bill saying pregnancy begins up to 2 weeks before conception. Just sayin'. (More on this at Friends of Jake).
This comment has nothing to do with the topic at hand and I apologize for that. Feel free to delete if you consider it spam. This speech has been making the rounds on various blogs and I told the speaker I would forward it to Episcopal blogs and other blogs I read in case there is interest. I was not sure how else to get in touch with you as I did not see an email address on the main page so I figured I'd try this. This speech is quite long (an hour) and it covers much of the ground we have debated for decades now. But I was impressed at the delivery and the age of the speaker, only 21 years old and know more about this issue than many of us. I also liked the way he framed the debate and what is at stake in it during the first 15 minutes or so. http://matthewvines.tumblr.com/
". . . men need money more than women do."
And if you are a single mom raising two kids in the 1950s, after your dear hubby has beaten you, cheated on you, and walked out you and the kids?
I can think of a few words that might temper Glenn Grothman's "enthusiastic" premise.
So could my Mom, if she were still alive.
