"It's been a long time since I felt like one of God's children ..."
Blogging from DFW Airport on my way to Mobile AL for Episcopal Urban Caucus this week, I got an email that this segment from Ed's sermon yesterday is now up on YouTube.
You cannot be the child of an imaginary object. Believe me, it's like finding out there's no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny or heterosexual Jesuits or working class Unitarians of color: You'll get over it
Whether we are God's children doesn't depend on how we feel.
If the facts line up to show I'm the child of a certain parent, then it doesn't matter if I "feel" otherwise. I can scream, "I'm not, I'm not", all we want but it would just show we're a bit insane to deny the obvious.
Our feelings come & go, change from day to day, even moment to moment.
As God's children people can certainly act like children. God is very patient with people. God probably wishes he had given dominion to us K9's instead. Anyway, I think you probably already know this.
Which you haven't bothered to even try and refute. Which means you can't. If being gay is a gift, what about blindness? Or does god run out of the better packages and have to go rummaging around in the basement?
