At first I thought someone had told them we were coming:

After all, it's not unusual for those of us who labor in this particular corner of the Fields of the Lord to encounter a protester or two.

But it was just a couple of us ... an advance team of project organizer types on reconnaissance "behind the Orange Curtain" (AKA in Orange County -- Anaheim, specifically) doing a site visit for July's General Convention. So an all-dressed-up-with-somewhere-to-go protester just for us seemed like total overkill ... but I got this picture to capture the moment just for the record:

Photo notwithstanding, it turns out that this time it was NOT "all about us" ... in fact it had nothing to DO with "us": Integrity -- All Saints Church -- The Episcopal Church ... any of "us."
.
They were picketing the annual conference of Roman Catholic Educators (NCEA) -- who were meeting in droves at the Anaheim Convention Center ... where we'll be setting up shop from July 7-17 (give or take a day or two) for the 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church.
.
I haven't figure out what the "therefore" is in all this for me today -- and I'm not likely to in the 15 minutes I gave myself to take a little blog-time-out in the middle of a day that started with an 8:00 a.m. All Parish Meeting focused on Infrastructure and includes a 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service and the 5:00 p.m. Family Eucharist.
.
Happy to entertain insights or reflections. Or not. Hope it's a beautiful day in your neighborhood. It is here in Pasadena today. And so ... back to work with me!

He'll be back in the palm grove on July 7-17 once the Convention is i9in town -- don't worry!!!

Being a target for the the reasserters or whatever they're calling themselves today is part of the price TEC is paying for our battle for justice for all God's people as the Patriarchy passes into history.

The day is gorgeous -- clear and sunny, although a chilly 34 deg F, here in Binghamton, NY in the Dio CNY.

Today is quiet; tomorrow will be busy. Our intern and candidate for Ordination preaches; the canteen will be feeding 150 or so; the Discernment and Search Team is meeting; the Diocese is closing the Church of the Good Shepherd across the River; the Lenten Study group is reading Borg and Crossan, etc., etc..

Thanks for the heads up about Good Shepherd, Binghamton. I'm sure a certain 'orthodite'/reasserter blog will be buzzing . . . er, whining . . . er. . . lashing out . . .er, all of the above. . .tomorrow.

Elizabeth...

Glad for the info. I forget that others might be interested in the local goings on.

I skipped the service, but I'm sure the othdites will be all over the place over the next few days.

I am so tired of the Kennedys and their whining. Another Boomer complaint about GenXers ;-}

I wonder why he put "repent" in quotes? Kind-of repent? Pretend to repent? ;)

...Why so quick to disregard God's Word -- with glee even? Are you sure you know where you are going when you die? It's worth putting some thoughtfull time into that question. Jesus himself said...'Behold, I am coming soon!...blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city...' rev.22:14.

The reason the word 'Repent' is in quotes, is because the sign carrier is quoting the Bible. The Bible has more than 40 entrances re repentence...which means, to stop continuing in sin. from Isaiah 30:15 'this is what the Sovereign Lord, The Holy One of Israel, says: In repentence and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it...'
