Sister Joan Chittister famously said, "We are each called to go through life reclaiming the planet an inch at a time until the Garden of Eden grows green again." Reflecting on that journey -- a blog at a time -- is the focus of this site.
Not the best segment in the history of local news but I appreciated the chance to speak out from All Saints and ... once again ... make the distinction between the sacrament of and the civil protection of marriage.
We are saddened that Obama is now in dereliction of duty as President of the United States. He took a Constitutional Oath to Defend the Constitution and Enforce the Law. He Campaigned on his Commitment to the Defense Of Marriage Act, and now he single-handedly Suspends the Law on a Whim.
Well, at least you're consistent in not letting lack of knowledge about something get in the way of having an opinion on it.
The president does not have the authority to "Suspend the Law on a Whim." The law is still in place. We've just taken a major step toward finding it unconstitutional ... which is very good news indeed.
The letter from AG Holder explicitly states that they are upholding the law. It is still in place and still being enforced, so LGM's precious heterosexual privilege is still being upheld, and no flaming homos will get federal pensions when their partners of 32 years die.
The Admisitration is simply not defending one clause of the law in court challenges. Which action has substantial precedent from many administrations.
Roman soldier: "What's with this INRI guy BULLYING us w/ his 'Father Forgive Them' talk. AS IF ***we*** have done anything that needs forgiving? Stop his Hate Speech!"
LG ... here's your chance to get over yourself and acknowledge that [a] you got it wrong about President Obama's actions on DOMA and [b] look up the difference between being disagreed with and bullied.
You've had more than a gracious amount of elbow room on this platform to express your contempt and disgust for the lives and perspectives of others. If you're going to dish that out you really need to be prepared to take a little push-back on your own opinions. Especially when you get it wrong. Which you did.

What? The president doing something opposite of what he said he would do when he was campaigning? Say it isn't so; craziness I tell ya.
I don't understand how DOMA is constitutional in the first place.
Where is the civil discourse that Inch At A Time promises?
IT says: 'flaming homos'? ... 'precious heterosexual marriage privilege'...
SR says:'your so consistent in not letting lack of knowledge keep you from your opinions...'
Will you comment on topics with your opinions & beliefs without hating or bullying language?
[You KNOW this happened]

@LGM, stop playing the victim.
The last AG who declined to defend a law in court was Roberts.
Now Chief Justice.
