... let's not forget that there are LEGALLY MARRIED COUPLES here in the United States who are NOT "living happily ever after" because of state sponsored discrimination called "DOMA." If we're going to "protect marriage," let's protect ALL marriages.
If we're going to preach Family Values let's value ALL famiies.
And let's support Rep. Rush Holt's appeal to the White House to stop the deportation of same-sex spouses! (And keep Joshua and Henry in your prayers!)

Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant between a Man and a Woman in the presence of God. --BCP, 1979.
Praise Jesus. The whole world was watching and listening, as the Gospel of Jesus Christ was proclaimed --through the beautiful unfolding of the the Marriage Ceremony for Prince William and Princess Catherine. I loved how Jesus Christ was first and foremost the most important focus of the Christian Wedding. Such beautiful words..."We have come together in the presence of God to witness and bless the joining together of this Man and this Woman in Holy Matrimony. The bond and covenant of marriage was established by God in Creation, and our Lord Jesus Christ adorned this manner of life by his presence and first miracle at a wedding in Cana in Galilee. It signifies to us the mystery of the union between Christ and his Church, and Holy Scripture commends it to be honored among all people."
So far, it seems like the most important aspect of the Wedding was lost on all the Media, as they focus on the dress and the worldly aspects, they overlook the entire Christian & Biblical message, which is the very foundation of the Wedding afterall...
I think that William & Catherin will take their vows seriously, and raise their children under the loving guidance of The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
I disagree w/ none of what you said, LGM...
...but I further note that---via their inclusion of married couple Elton John and David Furnish--- William and Catherine also envision a time when, throughout the Anglican world (and in accord w/ the GOOD News), that BCP rubric is updated! Alleluia! :-D
I think Elton and his partner were invited because they were friends of the groom & family. [Not choosing a wedding as a time to exclude long time friends, makes a lot of sense.] Elton's marriage is not recognized in England, but I guess he doesn't feel that strongly about it-- otherwise, he would have declined the invitation, and billions around the world would see by his absense that he took a stand for Marriage Equality. -- but he didn't.
Queen Elizabeth, the Head of the Church of England [The State Sanctioned Christian-Religion], supports conservative Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans, and the biblical decree, Marriage is between 1 Man & 1 Woman.
The Bishop of York, Dr.Sentamu, says,"I believe in a liberal democracy and want equality for everybody, but I do not want churches to be told what to do."
Church of England spokesperson says,"Any changes [to 1 man+1woman marriage] could lead to inconsistencies with civil marriage, have unexplored impacts, and lead to confusion, with a number of difficult and unintended consequences for churches and faiths..." Prince William [could have by now] but has not, veered from the official Church/State position.
Your hope may be in Prince Harry. Who told one of his fellow male soldiers, 'I love you', then kissed him on the cheek, and licked him on the face. Gay rights activist Peter Tatchell praised Prince Harry for his 'Liberated and Enlightened show of affection', and said, "If only more Heterosexual men were relaxed about same-sex affection, like Harry, the world would be a better place."

Citation? Re her support for your "biblical" "decree"? **roll eyes**
FWIW, I would not be surprised that a woman in her late 80s is a creature of her time. But from what I know of HM, I WOULD be surprised that she made any public statements about it. The ol gal's disciplinedly discreet.
LGM says, Elton's marriage is not recognized in England
Not so. Elton John has a civil partnership, which occurred in the UK. Not QUITE marriage, yet.... but that is just semantics, really. It provides nearly all the rights of marriage.
So, LGM, you are not being accurate. The UK, being in many respects far more modern than the US, gives its lesbian and gay citizens legal recognition, akin to CA domestic partnerships.
So to say he has a marriage that is not recognized, is not true. Your effort to denigrate his relationship is factually inaccurate.
JCF, my mother is one year younger than the queen, and vigorously LGBT friendly. I sometimes think that the very old are far more liberal than the merely old (those in their 60s and 70s). They understand that life is too short to play these games.
That's true (somewhat!) of my dad (nearly 91) too, IT.
I only said I wouldn't be surprised if HM were less than fully-affirming. I'm not saying she is.
