... worth a "summer rerun!"

Always love it!

The best (imho) response to several Bible passages is in the excellent documentary "For The Bible Tells Me So". It really covers the bases.

But West Wing takes the prize for Leviticus!

I miss that show! So many years later it took me back to the days before JFK, MLK and RFK were murdered -- when I was young and hopeful/

Dr. Laura, the radio advisor and anti-gay apologist, has a degree in physiology. Yet using the label "doctor" she came across as a family therapist and protector "traditional" morality. I wonder if the woman in this video was based on Dr. Laura? I liked to watch "The West Wing" during the dark years of the Bush-Cheney régime and fantasize about how things could be different in the USA. I showed this video to my husband Nikolai, a Bulgarian. I had to translate some of it for him (they speak so fast in the video and use some slang). The phrase: "Monthly Meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club" in Bulgarian is "Месечна среща на невеж, стегнато сфинктер организация." That musical phrase sounds hilarious in any language and Nikolai laughed so hard he still has tears in his eyes. Thanks so much for making both of us laugh.

It's kind of funny that you all are so gleeful about Hollywood's take on Bible teachings. (Not sure if Hollywood has the last word on Bible Truths though.)

Dr. Laura is not 'anti-gay' at all, in fact she strongly supports same-sex relationships. (even though it goes against her religion's teachings.)

Actor Martin Sheen tells people that he is a religious Catholic, which (by definition) means he's against killing babies in the womb and same-sex relations.

No one knows what tomorrow brings, so I'm wondering how we're going to fill that time... more media clips, or more Bible Scripture in these pages?

Lets take a vote and see where our hearts lie... 'Since then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.' col.3.1.

Hi LG Marshall, Dr. Laura used to be an Orthodox Jew and spent much time on American's radio waves condemning same-sex relationships using hostile and hateful language. A friend of mine named John Aravosis organized http://www.stopdrlaura.com/ to address her hate speech against gay people. This was all during the time when the show "The West Wing" was broadcast. It is my understanding (from Dr. Laura's press releases) that Dr. Laura has left Orthodox Judaism and has moderated her approach to same-sex couples. But she certainly has not apologized publicly for her years of hate speech against gay couples. She does not speak publicly now about her religious beliefs. You have spoken of her religion and if you have some inside information about her current "religion's teachings" please let us know. I am in Bulgaria which is about as far from Hollywood as a person can be. This video snip from "The West Wing" ridiculed the inconsistencies of fundamentalism and I am not aware that Hollywood has sole proprietary rights when it comes to pointing out flaws in the fundamentalist argument. Neither does Hollywood have the corner on humorous critiques of hate speech. We have laughs about religious fundamentalists in Bulgaria, too. Perhaps if we didn't laugh, we'd be weeping at the hurt they cause human beings. I have seen Martin Sheen speak publicly in support of same-sex marriage and against Prop 8. He even did anti Prop 8 commercials on television. "Pro-life" isn't simply "anti-abortion." Sheen promotes consistent life values which includes opposition to the death penalty and nuclear weapons (he has been arrested at anti-nuke protests). These beliefs would put him at odds with most American christianists, fundamentalists, and most Republicans. You seem to know more about his religious beliefs and what he is thinking than I do. All I know about him is what is available from news resources and from what I have seen personally. Is he someone you know personally? I won't quote Scripture, but I do know that the Bible promotes telling the truth and condemns slander. Your comments about Dr. Laura and Martin Sheen are inaccurate. But since I am not a fundamentalist, I won't call for you to be stoned to death. I am simply providing accurate and truthful information. God bless you and peace be with you. Mark
