MUST SEE: Why the Uganda "Kill the Gays" bill won't just kill "the Gays"

So I left my desk for an hour to go pick up Louise at the airport and came back to ELEVEN different emails and Facebook messages pointing to this amazingly thorough and throughly horrifying look at THE ACTUAL TEXT of the "Kill the Gays" bill pending in Uganda

Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return. But in the MEANTIME we're called to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with the God who created us ALL in God's image.

So get your ashes. Remember that you are dust. And then kick UP some dust as we work to put THIS piece of homophobic legislation where it belongs: in the dustbin!

Using "biblical standards" to condemn those who understand that sexual orientation is morally neutral makes as much sense as using "biblical standards" to condemn astronomers who understand that the earth revolves around the sun. The Bible may have said it but that doesn't always settle it.

It's liberty and justice for all -- not some. It's respect the dignity of every human being -- not just straight ones. Got it? Great. Let's do it.

In order to keep moving forward toward liberty and justice for all we can't just be right about what the 1st Amendment protects. We have to be smart about how we respond to those who skipped the 9th Commandment and think lying is a Traditional Family Value.
